Emergency Brake Cables with Rear Disks
I plan to upgrade to rear disk brakes that have an emergency brake. How have others set up their cables to accommodate rear disks? I will be starting from scratch and looking for tried and proven methods of routing the cables.

I bought "CaptainFab's" rear disc bracket kit, well laid out, included all fastener's. I bought the kit that uses pre '95 F body (Camaro/Firebird) calipers with integral E brakes. I got the calipers/brackets and cables from the local Pick n pull, but needed to buy new Caprice rear rotors. bolted up like a champ! the cables, I haven't mounted mine yet, but here's another forum members setup to show how he did it.....

Re: Emergency Brake Cables with Rear Disks
I used the Tom's Classic (e-bay) kit with Eldorado (I think) calipers. They sent a longer center e-brake cable to route in the stock locations back to the rear control arms which then connected to the e-brake cables on the calipers.
I had to drill new holes for the braket on the control arm and move them but once I did that, everything worked perfectly. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1402888194 The calipers mounted and e-brake cables hooked up: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1402773578 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1402773597 I am really happy with them so far! |
