Emergency Brake Cables with Rear Disks - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I plan to upgrade to rear disk brakes that have an emergency brake. How have others set up their cables to accommodate rear disks? I will be starting from scratch and looking for tried and proven methods of routing the cables.

I bought "CaptainFab's" rear disc bracket kit, well laid out, included all fastener's. I bought the kit that uses pre '95 F body (Camaro/Firebird) calipers with integral E brakes. I got the calipers/brackets and cables from the local Pick n pull, but needed to buy new Caprice rear rotors. bolted up like a champ! the cables, I haven't mounted mine yet, but here's another forum members setup to show how he did it.....

I used the Tom's Classic (e-bay) kit with Eldorado (I think) calipers. They sent a longer center e-brake cable to route in the stock locations back to the rear control arms which then connected to the e-brake cables on the calipers.

I had to drill new holes for the braket on the control arm and move them but once I did that, everything worked perfectly.

The calipers mounted and e-brake cables hooked up:

I am really happy with them so far!

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
