Hubcap ???

Anyone know if 66 van hubcaps fit our stock rims? I picked up a set off ebay and they are really shallow. I also picked up a set of caps that are similar to c20 caps. But they have a really wide ring! What rims are they for? Thanks
Tom

no and 3/4ton!!! the van caps are too shallow to fit over the nubs and hold tightly, the wide inner ring is for wheels with the clips... post a few pics, but im sure thats what u have, i been down that road many times!!! that backside of the hubcaps tells the tale...

My c20 caps are different than these. These have a really wide ring. Are they for the 19.5 rims?

Yeah ill post some pics later. But i know my c20 caps are correct. I dont think the wider ring will fit my 16" rims.

Re: Hubcap ???

In a nutshell, there are just a few thing to keep in mind for fitment:

1) Ring or no ring. All NO RING caps fit 1/2 TON trucks with nubs and NO CLIPS , except van caps, which look identical front and back, but are too shallow.

2) Wide ring or narrow ring. These are for wheels with clips.
A wider ring makes for a smaller opening. Smaller opening means 1/2 TON.
Narrower ring makes a larger opening. These are for 3/4 TON. No such thing as a ringless cap for 3/4 ton in our generation.
It's pretty simple once you can recognize the differences.

Hubcaps from left to right.

1/2 ton Nub style 6 bolt rims
1/2 ton Clip style 6 bolt only rims
3/4 and one ton 8 lug clip style rims

Thanks for the pics!
A picture is truly worth a thousand words!

Re: Hubcap ???

Wait. Left to right? That would make the larger cap to the left for a 1/2 ton, and the smaller cap to the right for 3/4 ton?

Re: Hubcap ???

The one on the left fits over nub wheels. Physically these caps are all the same exact outer diameter . IF it looks bigger, its the picture . Only difference is whats done to the back. I have swapped the clip rings from one cap to another , a few guys have taken rings and put in nub caps.

So my 15" clipless/nubbie rims will accept any ringless hubcap except the van caps?
How much shallower are they? Dimensions so not to get wrong cap...:smoke:

Ok i think i have it straight now.

Upper left: 1/2t cap
Lower left: 3/4t cap both undisputable as i have
both style rims

Middle lower/lower right: 1/2t clip type (in 66 really?)
Middle upper/upper right: Van? (Shallow and 9.75 dia)

I was wondering the same thing. That GMC cap looks way bigger in the photo. Whew! Scared me for a second there. That's quite the optical illusion!
