I made bubble flares!
Big thanks to everyone that encouraged me to keep flaring and especially to the member that suggested I flip the flaring vise over. I can now bubble flare and I have 1 piece of my fuel line done. I managed to get it installed into the cab! *I had to cut out the rubber grommet to get the space to push it through but I think they made new ones of those.

Re: I made bubble flares!
I knew you could do it;)
i learned to make the bubbles by accident:lol: oh well lines are cheap compared to everything else. i'm not sure how your running your exhaust but on mine the exhaust is gonna run through the c-member. the rubber(flex line) between cab and frame just came too close for comfort too the exhaust so when i did the line(the rear part along the frame) i made sure i had metal line above the exhaust. just sayin cause the line from the tank too the rubber part too the frame(the one your making) could be made this way alot easier. oh an those rubber grommets can be a bear but usually a lil' lube helps big time....think ky;) |
Re: I made bubble flares!
Thanks man and I must say that I feel very good right now. When I bubble flared both ends of the in-cab line I literally stood there, holding the tube in my hands, and just staring at it. :c2: I am totally motivated to do the rest.
There seems to be some confusion concerning the lines though.....I am essentially going back with what was there before: metal lines connected by short lengths of rubber tubing and metal tubing with fittings for under the hood. The only changes I intend are 3/8" tubing vs. 5/16", a fuel filter located under the passenger side of the cab, and a fuel shut-off valve behind the seat. |
Re: I made bubble flares!
Good job, bending and flaring your own tubing is a real art form.

awesome work. I do the same thing, just stare at it for a few minutes, then my son asks me, you ok?
