Wire harness help

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone I am new to the sight and so far had been great. I am have trouble identifying a couple wires on my 72 C10 motor harness. The first one is a thick pink wire with female spade connector. The second is a black wire with a round boot.

I think the 1st is the blower motor.
I'm lost on the 2nd. You might try the electrical section where there are great color wiring diagram links. I actually took one to Kinkos and argued to get it printed and laminated for $11 on poster size paper. I rarely look at it, but its great.
That wire looks like it may have once been orange. The color fades.

I bet you are right on the blower motor. I have not hook power to it yet. I read somewhere else that the pink wire ran to the throttle stop on the carb when it had AC but could no verify.

I have an orange wire with a boot hooked to blower motor. Black wire boot is too big

Is that hooked to the throttle sensor on the carb?

Re: Wire harness help

The pink wire runs to the idle control solenoid, which was part of the TCS system (transmission controlled spark) if I remember correctly. It does not have anything to do with A/C because my truck had it and there was no A/C on my truck, but that solenoid was there along with a relay mounted on the firewall, which was also part of the TCS. Don't know about the black wire with the boot.

Re: Wire harness help

It's an idle control solinoid but it doesent do anything, prolly cause I have removed my trans controlled spark. What was left of it anyway. I honestly had no idea it was part of the tcs. Glad I spoke up on here, now maybe I'll take that junk off and just add an idle adjuster screw. Hurray for wire removal! I like it clean under the hood. I don't think I have the black wire but I know orange is right for blower motor. Maybe it's for ac which I don't have, there is a wiring diagram sticky in the electrical FAQ.

Maybe it is this, also part of the TCS. I cut the wire off mine and now it's just a cap.Attachment 1397914

Looks like it hooked to the tranny. I had mine rebuilt and they must have taken it off. That would explain why I. Can't find the hook up.

You should have an idle screw already. The solenoid only worked with the TCS system. You can remove it and it will not affect anything.
