1970 4x4 parking brake cable

2 Attachment(s)
I was finishing my brakes and all I have left is the parking brake cables, I went to attach the one that goes from the lever to the cable, and the one I bought from lmc is too short. When I ordered it the diagram had no separate models available just the 2wd, I assumed theyd be the same but theyre totally different. Any idea where I could get the proper one? Anyone have any part numbers? I ordered number 3 front cable and its wrong..

inlinetube.com can make whatever you need. if you call them make sure you only talk to the guy who does the duplication of the cables, he seems to be the only guy at the company with any smarts. the techs who answer the phones for tech support are as dumb as a bag of hammers as well as the people who take phone orders.

is this a Chevy or GMC?

it makes a difference as I found out. most places know chevys but think GMC's are the same but the parking brake systems (and most other things before 1970+ something) are completely different at least on my 64

I'm not doubting you that it's shorter, but how is it shorter? The body still mounts on the same bushings, the same distance from the hole in the frame where that cable locks into. Unless the passenger side rod that slides through the frame to provide support to the other cable is different, I don't understand how it can be shorter. I do understand that the cable that runs a U pattern and connects to the rear brakes would obviously be longer. I'm just not a 4wd guy so I'm trying to pick up some tips.

In short, the center cable has to clear more stuff, transfer case, so the center is shorter and the one coming from the cab mounts further down the frame. Requiring it to be longer.

And yes, I second inline tube. Had no issues though with the order.
