Power disc front brakes for my '70 - question

Hey guys. Now that I have my truck, I'm interested in making a couple upgrades to it, mainly to make it a little safer driving in traffic around here. First one I'm interested in making is converting to power disc front brakes. It currently has non-power drum brake all the way around. I'd like to use stock GM stuff, if possible.

Essentially, what should I be looking to buy?

I know I need a booster with a front disc master cylinder. What will I need for the front discs--what will fit?

And I know this isn't the place for a WTB, but if anyone has anything....

Thanks

the easiest and least expensive way is to find a 71 and up doner truck and swap everything over. least amount of mods will come from a 71-72

You'll also need a proportioning valve.
As far as I know there is only one size if you go stock oem gm.
You'll need the calipers to go with the disc's.
You'll need disc brake spindles.

If you don't care about stock OEM, it seems wilwood owns about 90%
of the aftermarket. You can get several different sizes, but if you go large,
you'll have to have bigger wheels.

If you're planning on doing the rear also, it requires yet a different master cylinder.
(different size wells). Also the rear disc's require a different emergency/parking brake cable setup.

I was able to save a lot of my original drum brake lines, but the connecters to the calipers are different. (In my case, banjo style).

I assume you have a fairly stock engine setup. If you have a radical cam street/strip type engine, you have to make sure you have enough vacuum for the booster.

Here's a thread with the info you need.

You may want to contact forum member "t korinek" (first name is Tom) in Mesa. A couple years ago, I bought everything I needed for my 69 3/4 ton from him. I got a master, booster, prop valve and complete front suspension including the cross member. He'll probably be able to set you up.

Isn't the 71 a 5 lug? If so, you would have to do something to the rear end to match everything up.
