Removing heater core today: some questions.
 

Today is the day! :) I am going to remove my heater core and after 42 years I am going to assume the gasket will need to be replaced. What's good to go back with?

Now I plan to take my core over to the radiator shop for a pressure test but if it fails, what's a good replacement source?

Finally, should I prime and paint the exterior of the core? (Cover).

Remember to drill holes to align hinges if you remove them to access heater housing.

Thanks man but the hood is already off and so are the hinges. I should have drilled holes but ended up just marking the hood with a marker. My entire front end is basically off. :lol:

if your takein the "core" there why not take them both radiator and heater core. save yourself some time and effort get them done at the same time.

if you do decide to purchase a aftermarket heater core try to stay away from the aluminum ones they require some "fitting" too work right.

just get your oe ones cleaned up and fixed you'll be miles ahead
