Clips for trim at the rear of dash top on '57 question.

The clips that came off before my restoration appeared to be in good shape so I decided to not get new ones.

However, the trim isn't holding down as tight as I'd like it too. Loose in a couple of spots and would sure look better if it was more tightly held.

Will new ones solve the problem? Anybody else have this issue with suggestions for me?

I was looking at the Brother's site and the photo of the clips they have look a slightly different shape than mine.

The ears that go into the trim on theirs look they curve and the ones I have are flat.

Pretty common problem with used clips. I have never used any of the repo's so cannot vouch for quality. You might take it off and try to rebend the orgiinals. They often get bent or tweaked when removing and then on re installation they will not pull down tight.

Thanks Paul. I'll get new ones. I tried bending but it didn't help much. The are too hard to bend being so small. Not worth the time if a new set does the trick.

Thanks Joe. Brothers has them for $7.99 and I'm making up an order right now with them and other items I need.

Might check the receiving half on the dash. The flats will sometimes bend "up" when the trim is removed. Tap them back down using a screwdrver or piece of wood. I used grease on the clips when I installed my defroster trim hoping it would make a future removal easier.

That's a tough one if the truck is together and painted. I'd probably try to build a piece to slip over that bracket snugly and use 2 part body adhesive to secure it.

The clips I got from Brothers worked well.

The molding is snug now.
