Rear suspension
73 C10 SWB
What would be the better all around performing rear suspension? 4 Link or truck arm both W/coilovers. |
Re: Rear suspension
NASCAR to this day still uses the trailing arm suspension, if it's good enough for NASCAR it's good enough for me. I'm going with trailing arms and coilovers when I pull the trigger.

Re: Rear suspension
All around the truck arms,Drag racing 4 link,Road racing 4 link or a 3 link depends who you ask.

Re: Rear suspension
They are both good systems. the 4 link has the potential, depending on features, for allot of adjustments for fine tuning of the suspension to get exactly what you want, but with all the extra moving parts and adjust-ability can be more complicated. the truck arm is a simple and proven system, but does lack in some areas when it comes to making adjustments.
Allot of companies make 4 link systems for your truck and I know Porterbuilt makes a truck arm kit for the square body trucks. Good luck and let us know what you choose and why. |
Re: Rear suspension
CPP has a truck arm conversion for the squarebody as well. I have no experience with it but based off my experience so far with my porterbuilt kit I'd say go CPP if you want truck arms on a square. That or make the square fit a factory trailing arm frame, either would be easier probably...

Re: Rear suspension
The main challenge was being able to find and determine the frame rail variances that exist on the 73-87 frames. Unfortunately there are a couple of differences from driver side to passenger side depending on the CAT or no CAT options. It led to some fitment issues on the trailing arm crossmember that caused a few headaches along the way.
We don't sell very many of these kits, so it took a little while to find the main discrepancies. The truck that we originally proto-typed the kit on turned out to be the least common.... go figure! Nate |
