50-54 door weatherstrip
2 Attachment(s)
So I think I have this weatherstrip installed correctly but there is no way I can shut the door hard enough to compress the seal.... what am I doing wrong?

Re: 50-54 door weatherstrip
no, that is installed wrong. with that said.... I still had to cut my trim in half to get the doors to close properly. I don't think the pre 50s trucks should use that style rubber, but that is what all of the vendors sell. I ended up using house door rubber from Home Depot on one of my doors (on the edge where the hinges are..... it was way to close and tight otherwise.

There is a good video on youtube about installing that

Re: 50-54 door weatherstrip
I think you have it right but it's hard to tell from the pic. I had the same problem and ordered new weatherstrip from Metro Weatherstripping
Part# LP 40-A it says for a lighter seal. It worked perfect and they will send you a small sample for free if needed. The only problem is the price, it's sold by the foot and cost me $100+. Steele rubber has a similar product but I don"t remember the part# |
Re: 50-54 door weatherstrip
Thanks guys I will check into the seals.... anyone have a good picture of the correct direction of installation. I found the video on youtube and it just says the long side should point toward the cab???
