81-87 Bench Seat Replacement Foam?

My 86 K10 needs the seat re-done cause the foam is shot. All I can find is replacement lower foam for the bench seat. Does anybody know where I can find the upper replacement foam? I can find the upper foam for a 73-80 but not for an 81-87. Thanks, David!

LMC sells them.

Look at the part numbers. Only the bottom for 81-87.
I always thought they were the same. That's weird that no one makes them.

I didn't notice that. Sorry for the misinformation. They must have quit selling the back because my dad had bought a set several several years ago.

No, problem I didn't see it at first either. I actually almost ordered the set then I saw it was only for 73-80.

Have you checked with your local upholstery shops? They should be able to rebuild your seat bottom and back and make it look like new. I had my upholsterer use thicker and denser foam in my seat rebuild to help it last longer.
I only needed a seat bottom rebuild but the whole job with re upholstery was about $210. it looks as good as new to me - upholstery is very close to OEM.

There is a guy local who I was going to have re-do the seat for me when I completely restore the truck. With the material and everything I picked the price comes to around $500. I may just have him beef up the foam in the spots that need it for now until we get the new building done and I can tear the truck apart and start the process.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 2 for the upper foam?

Just going from memory, but I think my 73 and 76 seat backs had a more tapered edge on the top and was a little thinner than my 83. Early seats also did not tilt forward.

I think my upholsterer just cut out and replaced the driver's butt worn out area of my seat and then covered the whole thing with another layer of thicker, denser foam to even things out. Really, you can't tell it from factory and it seems a lot firmer and stronger than OEM.

Good auto upholsterers do this all day long and can knock out a rebuilt seat in a few hours. Around here a seat can be rebuilt and recovered for a few hundred dollars, but labor is cheap since we are close to the border and there is a lot of competition.

If you are a stickler for factory show quality OEM and count the stitches on the fabric, then that is a whole different story.
