LS oil pan and laying frame
 

This next build is going to lay frame with LS/T56 combo. I've never ran anything but stock pans but I know this build will require it. Most have used the f body or cts-v pan but after some research, Holley has a pan that's even shorter and evenly priced. What is everyone running on these frames with LS.

mine isnt laying frame but i have an f body oil pan and it sits maybe 1/2-1 inch above my crossmember

Not sure about the Holley pan, but the Fbody pan works.

I have an F body pan and lowered my motor mounts 2.5 inches and still clear the ground.

I'm not laying frame but have the Holley pan sitting in the garage. It looks to be the thinnest pan out there.

I am running the Holley 302-2 pan laying frame.

I only used it because I wanted a little more clearance up front. As for pan depth it measures about the same as the fbody at 5.5.

One thing I didnt like about the Holley pan is the windage tray has to be shortened in order to use it.

the holley pan is the same depth as an f-body pan and depending on which one you get, one has a different profile with more clearance up front.......you can buy a f-body pan for $250 from summit, the holley ones are another $100 more....and you can also get a killer satin black holley pan #302-2bk for $399

Mine isn't laying frame, but if I were, I'd have the clearance with my F-body Pan. Of course, this is on a stock crossmember.

Thanks for the input guys. I ordered my f body pan kit for $307 shipped. That was everything needed to install it.

On the cheap...GMPP hot rod pan/ pickup. Check Summit or Jegs, around 150 bones (pan , pickup & dip stick....gaskets & bolts included). Longhorn

I looked at that pan longhorn, it's only an inch shorter than the truck pan. The Holley and f body pans are 5.5 deep

I used the Holley 302-1 oil pan. I like it. from what I see, the f-body oil pan is a good buy. it definitely is cheaper than the Holley. the most expensive oil pan I bought was a regular, truck oil an paid some one to modify it. it leaked from some of the welds. that's how I ended up buying the Holley. advice, pay for what you need, cheaper.

My bad....a second look under my truck, says no it will not lay frame ! The pan hangs at the lowest spot about 3/4" below the stock engine cradle. For my app...(mild drop), It works well tho ;) Longhorn

where you at in easley? i might have to stop by next time i visit home in central

i'm running an oe fbody pan with cpp stands/sliders and it sits an inch or more above the factory crossmember. i'll be ordering a full dropmember kit next week so im sure it will still clear. the only thing with my setup that hangs below the frame currently is the 4l80e pan with the cpp trans member.

I'm building the frame in Greenville at a buddies place in cherrydale. I'm building a shop on my property in liberty in between six mile and liberty. If you head back to central on day shoot me a pm. We can meet up.

I ended with the fbody pan and it is clearing the drop member just mine. I'll be mounting the t56 next week.

the shortest oe oil pan is the ls2/3 gmpp road race wet sump pan. its only 4.25" tall

Well after mounting motor in drop member, the f body pan really doesn't fit. It is short enough but the sump is really to far forward. By the numbers the Holley pan is the best choice. I'm going to take some more measurements in the morning and order pan. If anyone needs an f body pan.... I got one !!
