Distributor

I have a 67 with the 250 6 cyl.....I put a new vacuum line from carb to dist. and that is OK but the line connection at the distributor comes out facing straight forward and was difficult to connect hose, (radiator hose,,timing chain cover in the way).....Is that normal or was my distributor lined up wrong....It runs good the way it is but I will change it next tune if it's not quite right...
Thanks,,Dave A picure of correct pointing direction would be nice...

Re: Distributor

The above picture is how they normally sit. From the carb to the distributor should be a hard line and it only has a soft hose a few inches inches long to connect to the distributor.

Re: Distributor

The cool thing about distributors is the fact you don't have to set it up exactly the same way. When you stab the distributor, just aim the advance the way that will allow for the most adjustment on the timing. As long as the rotor is pointing to #1 @ DTC, it doesn't matter. There may be numbers on distributor caps, but that doesn't mean you have to use those either. You can make #1 whichever you want. Some will disagree, but I've done it a hundred times if I have done it once. Doesn't matter whether it is points or HEI.
