30 ohms on the sending unit for 65?
 

Sorry if this question is silly - on eBay there are GM sending units for 64 and older that are 0-30 ohms but the same company has 65+ as 0-90 ohms? I think my 65 is still a 0-30 ohms...any input?

should be 0-30 somebody else will chime in. I bought a new cheap one $29, and it didn't go to full, only about 3/4. Have seen them for $49 don't know if there is any difference. put my old one back in and it works fine.

I got my sending unit from Truck and Car shop and it worked fine. Worked so fine that when I went over bumps the gas that caused the sending unit to move up and down moved the gauge with it. lol

Wouldn't you need a 0-30 ohm unit no matter what tank you have (in-cab, rear frame mount,...) as long as your using the stock gauge?

The big thing is to match the sending unit with your gauge. If you have OEM gauges for your model, it should be 0-30ohm. Aftermarket can be 0-30ohm, 0-90ohm,204-33ohm, ect.

Awesome - thanks guys. I have the stock gauge but I need to shorten the rod on the stock sending unit because its being installed in a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood tank. Basically installs like the 69 Camaro tanks in the back, and fills under the tag, but is poly so it works with my diesel and no risk of rust in the fuel system. Right now its just mocked up with some ratchet straps until I get the wiring and suction/return setup.

I've been real careful with that sending unit - I won't move it around too harsh.
