Any useful info welcomed on ls swap in a 68 short bed. As for radiator, trans cooler, wiring, Drivetrain, fuel system with stock in cab tank, anything helpful thank you

All the information you're looking for is over in the LSX swap section. I just finished my swap last spring. Best thing I've done to the truck.

As noted, there's an LS swap section here:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=206

But I can give some quick answers to your questions.

Radiator: I used the stock one, with 2005 Silverado hoses.

Trans cooler: The one in the stock radiator works unless you're doing something crazy (or have reason to suspect it's full of crud).

wiring: Lots of options here. You can run an aftermarket standalone ECU (that's what I did), run a stock ECU with a professionally made engine swap harness, or a stock ECU and mod the harness yourself, depending on your needs, skills, and budget.

Drivetrain: If you want an automatic, a good option is to get the engine with its matching 4L60E or 4L80E transmission as a set. You'll have to modify the driveshaft to make it fit. You can get just about any transmission that fits behind a small block Chevy to go behind an LSx if you want.

Fuel system with stock in cab tank: Yes, it's doable; I stuck a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump intended for a Mazda Miata in my stock tank. If I did things again, though, I'd use a tank mounted under the bed as I still sometimes have a gas smell in the cab and I don't like that. Plus, an electric in tank pump is pretty loud - a pump under the cab would probably have been a better choice, but I wanted to see just how easy a low buck in tank fuel pump conversion would be.

We make bolt-in conversion radiators and we also offer a forum member discount:

We can build it for any engine set-up including the LS (no additional charge) and include a free steam port and built-in trans cooler if needed.

Another good place to research are the build threads. There are a ton of great LS builds going on right now. Good luck.

Here's my build thread for my 68 short/wide.
