68 trailing arms

I have a 68 BB and notice 1 trailing arm has at least a 1/8 gap between the rails and the other looks new. Should I make a change or squeeze together and weld?

Sounds like a job for a C-clamp & a welder. I stitch welded my arms together when I restored my truck, as they were starting to do the same thing.

The correct way is to drill out the spot welds and take it apart to get all of the rust out, then weld it back together. It will look factory then.
