Re: bellhousing question

Most likely, yes. The bolt pattern will be the same.

Okay, but what if I have a '68 327 and will be using a sm465 that is currently bolted up to a '72 292? will the '65 283 or my current bell housing work? Thanks in advance Captain...

Re: bellhousing question

The SM465 has a front bearing retainer that measures 5-1/8" in diameter. You will need a bellhousing that has that size front register bore, which will be a '68 and up truck bellhousing. The '67 and earlier truck bellhousings have a front register bore that measures 4-11/16" in diameter.

For sure a 465. The clutch and flywheel I got from you was for which year 327? '67?

Okay thanks, looks like I can simply reuse my current bell housing then.

they take a different bellhousing. the hole where the input bearing retainer goes is larger in the sm465 than it is in the sm420. the sm465 came in 1968 i believe. they both take the same clutchron.
if you are using the org b/housing then it is for a sm420 a sm465 will not fit in a b/housing that was foe a sm465 unless the hole was bored out to accommodate it
ron
