Electric Fan Options

Ok ls swappers I got some questions, 1965 C10 getting a LS2 put in. Plan to use my aluminum radiator that was used with the old sb due to it not even bring a year old. What is my least expensive set up for electric fans? Read some places 2 12" fans in the radiator with no shroud. Just looking for some insight. Thanks guys

What ever you don't put those stupid zip ties through the radiator core. They get loose and vibrate till they wear through the cooling tubes. Ebay sells 16 inch fans or you can get a affordable set of new or used Ford Taurus or 96-02 Camaro fans that will be more than adequate.

Any idea what year Ford Taurus fans I need? Will both of those mount up around my radiator?

Google them or go to pick a part salvage. Likely 2000-ish years.

Dodge Intrepid fans are outstanding. Cheap, good shroud, and sized to fit a truck radiator pretty well.

Ford Windstar fans also work ( shown here on my '80 C10 radiator )

So will '06 and later Impala fans (Police option or 5.3L)

I have been using Mopar fans on all of my V-8 conversions
Take a look at the Jeep fans

Grand Cherokee fans draw a butt load of current at startup and when running so you better run some 10 guage wire and a heavy duty relay. They burn up some gm weather pack relays.

Yea, these Intrepid fans do draw some amps. But, they also move a LOT of air.

I just welded some bosses to my radiator to mount them. I've done this on 4 builds, all with awesome results.

Intrepid is much less amp loads than the grand Cherokee.

Pro Tip:
If going with Intrepid fans, skip the junkyard and go to Rock Auto. $100 brand new.

I have a fan/shroud setup off of a Nissan altima that fits just great on my factory 4-row radiator. I think it's off of a 98-01 Altima 4cyl. $70 on ebay. There used to be a write up on here about it.

Edit.. found it http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=50085

Ive looked on rockauto at the fbody fans. New dorman shroud fans all $124 bucks. Not to bad i didnt think. Just wondering if anyone had mounted them on my style radiator. Since im not able to weld anything ill have to find a way to mount where factory shroud went.
