Throttle Cable Adjustment??
Is it possible to adjust a throttle cable?
I can floor my accelerator pedal and it doesn't extend my throttle linkage all the way back. I can still push it back by hand about 1/2 inch. |
If there was a way to verify the correct cable length for your application vs. what is actually installed on the truck, that might be worth a try. Case in point: my old 78 camino had 1/2 a V8 w/a 2 barrel & @ some point in its life someone swapped the throttle cable for a Q-jet 4 barrel cable. It was too long & I couldn't get full throttle (not that your missing anything @ full throttle w/ 1/2 a V8).

Well, not sure if I can really tell if this is the correct cable for the application. Guess about all I can do is replace it if it's not adjustable. :)

Scoti, was that 4 cylinder a factory option? i've never seen one with a 4 in it
|
No, not a 4cyl.... 1/2 a V8. The baddest ass V8 GM ever had the brilliance(?) to build.... the mighty 267 (sounds of thunder all around).

Scott,
there are no adjustments. You will have to replace the cable. Make sure you get one specific for your ride. Oh, forgot to ask, you did make sure there is nothing under the pedal, right? |
