Inner fender removal.
Can someone post some info on how to remove the front inner fenders (engine compartment), on an 87 Suburban please?
Guessing you put have to remove the fenders and can't get them out from the bottom with the tires off. |
Re: Inner fender removal.
Removing inner fenders, done it many times, never had to remove the tires (does make it easier though) and certainly you don't need to remove the fenders.
Just finished replacing them on my K30 dump. Tires and fenders stayed on. Quite an easy swap. Just remove everything attached to them first, for example, battery trays, brackets, etc. The biggest issue is the speed nut will usually break off. The bolts down by the radiator support under the battery can also be an issue and usually break off. Nothing a drill and tap can't fix for re installation. Just take your time and don't force anything. |

There are a series of 1/2" bolts and a couple 9/16th's along the outer edge where it mates to the fender, radiator support and 1 through the bottom of the battery tray IIRC. There are none facing toward the engine - think semi-circle. Take the bolts off and the inner fender comes out. |
