Door Locks Jamming

Here's my issue. I have a 67 C10. I purchased a new door lock set, latches, and striker plates from LMC. The door closes fine, I can lock and unlock it from the inside and outside just fine. The problem is, if either door is locked and I push in the door handle button from the outside, the door pops open partially and the latch jams up. I found out by accident when I was putting the door back together and had to use quite a bit of force on the latch rod to unlock it.

It would be a nice security feature but unfortunately, if a crook tried to pop the door and can't get in, well then, neither will I.

I was under the impression that if the door was locked and someone pushed in the door handle button to try to open the door, it would just press in freely and nothing would happen until the door was unlocked. Am I missing something other than my sanity?

I'm guessing that the replacement door latches may be made a little different than the originals. I have had original latches do that if they were worn, but if you push in hard on the door it would re-latch and then you could unlock and open the door normally....

If the door is locked and you push in the outside handle button, it should not push in.
