simple question? fender to hood gap.
 

I just installed 1968 front fenders, hood, and core support and everything fits ok the only issue that I am having is that the rear part of the fenders towards the door are super tight against the hood but the gap up near the core support is fine do I just shim the rear of the fenders to get the gap I need. It's tight on both sides.

I'm not a bodyman, but I'd think so. Normally you start with what you can't change (the cab) and build out from there. Particularly if the gap is OK up front, I think expanding it back at the base of the hood makes sense.

Mine had 1-2 shims from the factory, so just so you know, the factory -did- shim them. Not like gaps on GM trucks from the 60s are tight!

Of the two upper bolts by the cowl, my fenders had a single shim in both of the forward bolts and none on the back bolts, i didn't measure them but they are about .050 thick.

I'm shimmed about half an inch if not 3/4 of an inch.
I think the hood has flattened out. I need to put a bit of a bend back in the hood. I just found out today that I have the wrong core support bushings but that isn't going to affect the hood width.
