Front or Rear?

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
If its from a leaf spring truck you can use the front axle. You will need these http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Dod...apBushings.htm and i believe the lugs are a different size them a gm truck uses.

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
250 a good price for a 14ff?
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
Looks like that axles got new fluid in it. I hope he sealed it back up though...
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
im going to check it out tomorrow

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
dont know about that d 60 guy want 500 for it and it look kinda rough. it has 355 gears welded and need new brake parts as you can see
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
To me and around here 250 seems steep for a 14ff with open diff but I'm sure location matters. I'd love to get that for mine once I swap the locked 373 in.

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
That D60 probably has the spring perches spaced different than a Chevy, not sure though. I see 3/4 ton axles for sale pretty cheap from time to time but $250 isn't bad.

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
if the spring perches are different, which i assumed were. ill just relocate and weld new ones in
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
The off road design spring bushings i linked you to fix the spring width problem.
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
So it's a half inch farther out or in? I seen a few come up recently, and honestly that's awesome!
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
Geezus $250 for a 14bolt FF?! That is a steal for where I am from.
|
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
I guess it all depends on where you are. I see stock 14FFs for less than that all the time.
As with old trucks, I imagine I could make a fair amount of money by buying them here and shipping them to rusty areas. I wouldn't feel as bad doing it with parts as clean trucks, though. |

But like was mentioned before, if using narrower aftermarket springs, just use offset bushings or space with washers. |
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
I think you are OK price wise, especially since the 60 has single wheel hubs.
I saw your hood ad of FB, I'll have to ask you about the big block parts sometime. |
Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
USSKOVAL I thought of that, but since I have 52" Springs up front I have spacers on either side, so I think that'll work out good...

Re: dodge d60 axle swap?
The Dodge D60 will work. I've done it and it is simple.
Be prepared to change out the shock mounts. You have to be a tad creative with the brake lines. I recall grinding a tad on the side of leaf springs to get the u-bolts by easier. After doing it once, in the future I would just get the right Chevy axle to begin with. |
