front suspension question

I am still working on this 69 GMC and have a problem, I think. I put the floor jack under the middle of the front crossmember and jack. As it comes up enough to try and clear the tires the right wheel stays pointed straight and the left starts toeing in like in a right turn and stays that way while up. The front is a later model with power steering and disc brakes and all new other pieces, A arms ,tie rods , idler arm.
Now is this normal or do I have something wrong ? I am new to this truck stuff.
Thanks, JR

Re: front suspension question

As the wheels drop the tie rods also drop and will cause toe in. Most the time its no to extreme.

Also when sitting still and turn the wheel the front end dips up and down with wheel movement right and left. Kinda weird to be sitting and it move up and down. I can't see anything wrong with the suspension,
Any ideas?

Thanks JR

What is your caster set at? The king pin inclination will cause the movement up and down as it goes side to side. The more caster typically the more movement.

Measure your tie rods center to center for both sides. Also, with the steering wheel centered, count the number of turns that you make make to the left and then front center count the number of turns you can make to the right. If the steering wheel was ever put on "off center" and then centered by adjusting the tie rod ends it could create this issue.

I am going to try to get a few pics. All parts are new and later model than 69. haven't even got it dirty yet. Seems to drive OK. I have to figure out how to post pics next.
Thanks JR
