rear springs with caltracs
Hey everyone. For those of you running Caltracs, are you running the split monos or a multipack? If so, what spring rate for the multipack? I have a 71GMC short box with big block and a 4 speed and hoping I can get it to hook. Its a street truck but might see the track a bit. It has a 12 bolt with 3.42s. Thanks, Troy.

I have been using stock type springs for about 8 years...I'm needed to replace my 3rd pair. The first (originals) broke...I blamed it on being old & scared to death, the replacements bent & so has the set that is on there now. I have purchased the parts to make an anti-roll bar which seems to be the problem. The main Right spring seems to flatten out & the Left one kinks toward the front. At some point I may go to the split mono's. My advice, If you are going to use multi leafs & are going to the track with sticky tires...do the anti-roll bar now. Lorne It goes 1.56-8 60' times. You can see some rollin' over going on. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...pscrh9fcqs.jpg Here's from the other side of the track...you can see the whole rear tire in the wheelwell http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps881d9a2b.jpg |
Re: rear springs with caltracs
We ran split monos on my friends 67 Camaro and had 1.42 60ft on a 200 shot progressive with a 275 60 15 drag radial

Re: rear springs with caltracs
The split monos fix the bending problem . The front half is very thick and the rear section is actually the spring rate portion .
