6 cyl carb
Hey guys I'm looking for e few good ideas....
I'm doing a rebuild job on my 67 6cyl...What do you guys use for a carb ? I am staying with the stock intake and exhaust manifolds so whatever carb I end up with will probably have to have an adaptor....I have had Zero luck with stock mono-jet so I'm looking to upgrade......I'm looking for dependable running, starting, and driving almost every day rather than high performance(and high cost).....Thanks , Dave |
Re: 6 cyl carb
Two barrel Rochester. You may have to re-jet it. They do make an adapter to bolt it on a stock 1 barrel intake.

Re: 6 cyl carb
Hey Stovebolt........Thanks for the info.. Any idea on just what model Rochester I need to look for ? Also where would I find the adaptor?

Re: 6 cyl carb
Looks like I found a Rochester 2GC is the one to have...and I found an adaptor on E-Bay.....I haven't bought yet but that looks like what I may need...Dave

Re: 6 cyl carb
Dave, I've got a 2GC sitting out in my shed from a 69 307 (have a hard time throwing stuff out). I'm sure it could use a clean/rebuild, but it's complete as far as I know. I'm willing to send it your way for the cost of shipping if you'd like.

Re: 6 cyl carb
Does the truck still have the choke cable?
Have you located all the missing original linkage? Do you have a picture of that smog Monojet mounted and did the choke actually work? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1444077512 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1452718776 I think a 2bbl would be a bad idea. You would be throwing more money at the problem and still end up with a MacGyver'd, hacked up mess. In your first post you said you were looking simply for drivability. The original Rochester B will give you more reliability and drivability than anything you've been looking at so far. |
Re: 6 cyl carb
I have a 6 cylinder carb from a 67 c-10 that has 49000 miles on it will that work on your truck?

Re: 6 cyl carb
The B model carb on my 67 works great. Pull choke, starts, push in to steady idle, go back in house for five.
Drive on |
