Ls swap help
I just picked me up a 68 c10 step side and wanting to put a ls 5.3 in soon, was hoping I could get sone help as to what motor mounts to use and what other parts I will need to do it as cheap as possible. Thinking of running a 700r4 behind it.. any help would be greatly appreciated

If you're going to do a 5.3 swap with a stock ECM I would at least go with a 4l60e and not the 700r4. They can be had for nothing because everyone doing 4l80e swaps dump them cheap.
Brew is right, the search function will help you find most of the answers you are looking for. Many different mounts you can go with, ways to do your own harness modifications, how to set up the fuel system and so on. If you have specific questions and can't find the info post it up in this thread. A lot of us have done these swaps, some many times and I am sure we can help you along! |

If I were doing another swap, I'd get the engine and the 4L60E as a matched pair; the linkage for a 700R4 is more trouble than it's worth unless for some reason you want a carbed setup. (Which is not likely to be the cheapest option.)
The more stuff you DIY, the cheaper it will be. The lowest budget option out there would probably be to cut your own motor mount adapters out of steel plate and modify a stock 5.3 ECU / wiring harness, although that is a bit more hassle than getting a ready made mount kit and harness. |

Dirty Dingo has the mounts you need.
LS1Tech.com has way more information than you can imagine regarding that swap. Best value as stated is the 5.3/4l60e but bigger is better, meaning you come across a 6.0\4l80e combo, take it. If you are a true Diy'er then grab the entire vehicle. Suvs have drive by wire (a pain at times) where as the trucks and vans are drive by cable. |

What's the best to do with the fuel system on the cheap? Getting little over whelmed. Will a online pump and the lmc rear mount tank be sufficient? With the vette regulator

I run a inline walbro 255 and the vette style filter/reg out of my stock tank..the return from the regulator goes back into the tank.. so you'll need a supply and return on your sending unit.

Can I do that same setup on the lmc rear mount tank or is that to far for the fuel to travel on the online pump?

My pump and filter/reg is mounted right above my tank and i only have a supply line to the engine and i just capped my return rail..it works fine. I think there's about a foot of suction hose on it between the tank and pump..if your engine has a return rail fitting on it you can skip the regulator and just run a filter at the pump but you will then need a supply and return line from tank to engine

Pull a plastic camaro tank out of a 2000-02 camaro and mount it behind the axle. If you pull the pump out you can remove the regulator and use the stock regulator on the truck manifold. Then you have the option of the bolt in racetronix upgrade. That's what I'm running.
