Underhood light
Last week I found an under hood light from a late model truck. It is a mercury switch set up that turns on when the hood is lifted an off when closed. I'm trying to figure out how to mount it without drilling any holes. I think I've got it figured out. I have to fabricate a bracket that will attach using one of the existing holes and enable me to snap the light into. Has anyone else have this setup in their truck? It's not that I plan on working on the truck in the dark but it's just kind cool to have the light in the parking lot at a cruise-in. :metal:

Re: Underhood light
after you mount it. wait until its dark outand go see if the under hood lite remains on when your hood is closed.
I installed one on a car and after that the battery was dead every morning. I did not make the connection and replaced numerous things including the battery, alternator ign switch ect. then one night I came home to find a glowing lite under the hood. it was that under hood lite all along. I repositioned it correctly and the problem went away. |
Re: Underhood light
I know what you're saying. When tilting it up and down, it works as it should but we'll see. If it gives me problems? Oh well , I didn't give much for it.

Re: Underhood light
I bought 2 of the mercury switches at the parts store and mounted them under the hood.
They are nice to have when your checking the levels on the sticks.:chevy: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/IMG_3602.JPG http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ine_3cover.jpg |
