looking at a 70 4x4
It's cheap. It has a title. It has a stretched frame 4-6 inches with a plate and welded. Owner thought it might have had a dump bed on it. It is 200 miles from here so 4 hour drive one way. I may need this as my 71 4x4 frame and running gear were stol . . . . I mean disappeared. Blown motor, no transfer case or 4 speed. I have most of the needed parts from my 71. I am sure I could part it out and make money and keep the frame. but the stretched frame bothers me.
Your thoughts. Its cheap enough i will probably go after it as I need a frame bad. |

You can swap the parts over to a 2wd frame its a lil work but its been done.Is anything wrong with the frame you have now ?

Re: looking at a 70 4x4
People cut and weld frames often. If you're gonna put an original bed back on you'll have to recut the added section out, and then you can have whoever you want, or yourself, weld it and not worry ya know.

andrewmp6: The biggest problem with my disappearing frame is I have no idea, well I do have a strong suspicion where it might be but no proof.
74CustomK20: Pretty sure that is the route I will be taking. Just needing to think about it longer and get others thoughts. I don't weld, about all I can do is turn wrenches, put on parts, and do as I am told. I do have patience. Thanks for the replies |
Re: looking at a 70 4x4
Going to pick it up tomorrow, only have seen pictures.
It hit me last night as I was not sleeping good to look for a flat bed for this truck rather than just jump in and shorten it. Ill look for the other parts it needs before I make up my mind. |
