ATCA Macungie 2016!!
5 Attachment(s)
This year's show was bigger than ever, over 800 trucks. Good dry weather after rain, down here, Friday morning. We rolled up in Chuck's '58 Reo and arrived around 6pm. Took a walk through the swap meet, went out to Main St. for a pizza and a beer, then started looking at trucks at night and engaging in chitter chatter. Pretty much the same thing the next day, except started off at 6am over at the Bear Swamp Diner for breakfast and coffee.
I took a few pictures to share: |

First one is a Model TT, the truck model. It has a 5th wheel platter. Check out the spring mount bumper, radiator shutters, and headlight visors (light dimmers) Second is a conversion called a Super T. Longer heavier frame, original axle solid mounted in original position, chain drive, extra big radiator, extra bracing on axle ans under transmission. Not sure what else, but purdy dang cool!

Mighty fine lettering job. Even Chuck was impressed. How about that GMC/Airstream combo?

El Turbo, the famous west coast rig that has been around longer than I can recall. My favorite Peterbuilt rig. I've seen this guy's rig at all the shows for years. Not a spot spared yet not one doodad more than needed. Just a well thought out from front to back top to bottom no BS attention to detail piece. Very cool Chevy hauler and li'l Mack dump

On the lighter side, the finest father/son 67-72 combo I know. Rob71's C/10 Panel and his son's unrestored mostly original paint big block C/20. His son is in HS. Two pcs. of lower trim are missing on driver side. I offered to give some good used pieces and Rob said they had them, that his boy is saving up to paint lower area. I like hearing that. The boy has a great truck and doing it with his own money, nothing handed to him except a great father's influence (and a lent hand I'd guess)

Cool C10 with cool wheels that I am amazed aren't reproduced. I' guess they'd cost too much less than ugly junk they make, so no one would buy the junk. I learned to stay away from chrome wheels and went with aluminum slots. But that was daily year round driver days. Now with trucks sitting in garages, more miles on the washing//polishing hand than the truck, and fair weather driving I'd think chrome would hold up just fine

I've never been to a big truck museum with over 800 trucks on display. Or, I guess I have, just not the brick and mortar type.
Touching this truck would be a Federal offense: |

These are all "snap shots". I took my time to look them all over all weekend. But when I got the camera out it was walk from truck to truck stopping in the right spot, aim, and shoot. Sometimes I'd have to wait for people to clear, but it was on down the line, snap, snap, snap. It would be nice to catch each one when the light was on the best side to show, but you have to break the rules of photography if you want to grab the shots on one go 'round. I guess I got about 1/8 of the trucks...100+. I try to get the variety and , of course, the ones that catch my particular fancy

Re: ATCA Macungie 2016!!
Tim------Thanks for posting not too many Macks , as there would be an abundance .
In group # 12, the orange and white Pete looks like Tom Mullin's, 1st. VP of ATHS who was at Ashland............without his truck . |

Glad you all like 'em. I'm not done yet. keep checking back.
Dan, that truck I swear was owned by another feller my last time up, year before last, and he was from NJ. I couldn't be wrong because he had a wife that I liked looking at a hella lot more than that beautiful Peterbuilt. I Believe it was for sale then. This time it had lettering from a truck parts shop in PA and a younger guy with a shop t-shirt. Maybe it's the same truck as you think, passed along a couple times. See if Tom sold it. That thing is gorgeous! I hear ya on the Macks. Not so many as usual this time. You'll see the LTLs, which I like a lot. But I do try to have a variety and didn't get but maybe 1/4 or less of the 800+ Here's your variety: |
