Throttle Bracket with Bowtie Overdrives Trans Bracket

I've got a 69 with a 700R4 I'm moving to my 71. The 69 has a solid rod for the throttle linkage, and the 71 has a cable. My problem is that the Bowtie Overdrives plate that goes under the carb and contains the trans linkage puts the transmission linkage in the same spot that the 71 throttle cable would go. I'm looking for some king of bracket that would hold the throttle cable above where the trans cable goes.

Anyone run into this before? Did you fabricate a bracket, or find one at an aftermarket shop? Bowtie Overdrives tells me they don't have one for this application.

So they are saying that they don't have the parts to put a 700r4 in a '71 Chevy? Sounds to me like you got a-hold of someone that doesn't know the products very well. All you should have to do is replace the '69 carb plate with one for a '71 or '72. I don't know when you called but be sure and call 8-5 (their time zone) on a weekday when the regular crew is working......

That's a good point. I'll call them again tomorrow.

It does appear that most of their plates only contain a bracket for the TV cable, and that the throttle cables bracket is a separate add on. They only have the square cable and not the round one. I'm thinking I could get one of these and cut off the round bracket slot and weld it to this one. Or maybe I could get a friend to make one. I don't have tools or skills to work with metal myself.

They have a bracket for a square GM style cable like you linked and they have one with a round hole that can be used with a braided aftermarket cable. I am using a 71 pedal assembly and braided cable with my BTO TVmadeEZ kit.

Other brackets here:

I've got a friend that is a metal worker. He is going to see if he can fabricate a bracket for me this afternoon. If that doesn't work, I'll go with the braided cable. Thanks for the info!
