Spark Plug Help
 

Guys,

I need some help here. I just picked up a 72 with a 350 in it and I want to change out the plugs. It currently has some SplitFire SF2E plugs installed but when I look up online they are discontinued. I want to get new plugs that are as good or better than what it had installed. There are so many options to choose from and I don't want to order the wrong thing. Any mechanics on here that can point me in the right direction?

Also I have a question on oil weight. The mileage on this truck are really unknown at this time, so with that being said what weight oil would you use?

AC delco 45ts or equivalent will be fine for plugs and a decent 10/30 weight oil will be good enough for a stock engine in good working order.

Thank you for the info. I went to the auto parts store and they gave me some AC R43TS. I could not find 45TS plugs. Would these be OK?

43's are a little colder plug. If you can't fine 45 go 46 but no hotter, unless it burns oil.

At this point I will mention to make sure you get the right type plug. The seat was switched from gasket type to taper around this time. And you never know what has been done to a 44 year old truck.

I agree that is what has me stumped and why I am so worried on getting the correct plug that is a direct replacement for the Split Fire SF2E. I am guessing if I find a direct replacement it will be correct. Not sure if this plug is tapered or not.

Tapered plugs. No metal gasket. Good to go.

Stock points ignition or HEI conversion?
