Parking break cable
1 Attachment(s)
I went to get new mufflers and my parking break cable is gonna be in the way to run the pipes above the cross member. I think things were modified when they put the sm465 in it. Has anyone run into this before?

Re: Parking break cable
I noticed a couple of things in your pictures, the trans is not an SM465, and your crossmember is upside down. Your truck should have come with a catalytic converter, which has a crossmember that drops down low on the driver's side. Originally, the parking brake cable would been attached to the bottom of the frame, and run through the drop. Someone changed the crossmember to an earlier type, and rerouted the cable. I'm not sure what you can do with it in the current configuration.
Your goal is to run the exhaust above the crossmember? |
Re: Parking break cable
That was the original goal. I'm thinking now that b/c the headers are long tube that they would hit either way so running the pipes under the crossmember may be the easier way to go.

Re: Parking break cable
That's what I was thinking also, if you want to go over the crossmember you would need some short headers.

Re: Parking break cable
What in the world...why is the crossmember upside down in the first place?

Re: Parking break cable
That's how it was when I got it. To be honest I didn't even know it was upside down. I've been sorting out the little issues as I can.
Does the crossmember being upside down effect anything? I'm gonna flip it over just curious. |
