Placement of door weather strip
2 Attachment(s)
Hi gang,.
Can post some pictures of the door weather strips? I want to make sure I'm placing them correctly. Thanks Jake |
Re: Placement of door weather strip
Ummm... there is no weather stripping that goes on the door. It goes on the pinch weld flange on the body.

Re: Placement of door weather strip
Ok thanks guys. I wonder why Steel Rubber sells it like that. Does anyone know when the started with the door rubber? Unless I was confusing another year, my faulty memory seems to think I've seen rubber on the door. Maybe when I bought my door they were from 61-63?

Re: Placement of door weather strip
I believe the rubber door gasket was 60-61. I think there's an illustration in the build manual. I do know there's a screw with a small clip that holds one end or both. Sorry I'm so vague I've sold/given away all my 60-66 reference material and returned to my square-body roots.

Re: Placement of door weather strip
Ok, I spoke with a few members who have a 60 and they did use a door weather strip. I have make the two metal slips for the doors. Thank ks for all the replies. They stopped doing the door strip with the 62 model year it looks like. This is another entry on the correct restoration thread.

I spoke to Arthur Throckmorton and he explained that the 60-61 doors did have the door ruber and they will leak if it is not used. Another member send some pictures of doors with the gasket. I have to make the metal brackets, however, with the new 3-m glue, I wonder if I actually need the brackets.
