Arrghh... memory leak

I can't recall the name for the metal plate that attaches on the top of the radiator and extends over the fan. I have searched all combinations of words I can think of and am drawing a blank...

Thanks!

Re: Arrghh... memory leak

I tried that and it isn't the part I am thinking.... the part I am thinking of is maybe 18"x18" and takes 2-4 bolts. When searching on "fan shroud" I get this stuff... If I had my truck here with me I would take a pic.

Are you thinking of a radiator top plate or radiator support panel?

Similar to this? -

Are you sure it's not a fan shroud, AKA finger guard, for a 6 cylinder? Like this picture:

Try METAL FAN SHROUD Only used on the 6 cylinder manual trans trucks if I remember correctly....

THANKS!!! that's it. I have scoured hundreds of photos looking for this thing. I guess what is curious is that my truck has a 305 but does have the shroud (guessing the PO added it).

much thanks! I can sleep now.

I would check the VIN FLA_Instigator. If it starts with CS versus CE, your truck was originally a 6 cylinder not a V8, thus the finger shroud.

I like this one in the middle for an 8 cyl rad gives it a more finished look I think . I bought it but it didn't fit my l6 rad too wide so I made one out of stainless now I have the 8 cyl rad I put the one I bought on

Re: Arrghh... memory leak

oh and I think with the core filler panel it should help more air go through the rad instead of over

Thanks, I'll look into that. Engine compartment is next on my list of things to get in order.
