tired of fighting with my truck
(electrical gremlins)

are there any down side to changing to a carb

i have a 5 speed so i dont have to worry about the trans
and we have no emissions testing

every carbed engine i have runs great
but this truck........not so much

i just want to be able to drive my truck
i had a new engine installed
and they left the ground straps off the engine
(been replaced)

any help would be appreciated

If you want to go back to carb you can but will need lots of little things like:
A new throttle cable, you can get a universal one from O Rielly's that works.
A centerbolt valve cover intake manifold, aftermarket preferred
A carburetor, a rebuilt Q jet would be best or a 600 CFM Edelbrock
You will need a adjustable return style fuel pressure regulater set around 5 psi
Your guage wires will be the same but you have to seperate the wiring of those from the ECM wiring and prune the TBI connections out( be careful not to cut out the oil psi/fuel pump relay circut)
And a Chevy HEI distributor to run the spark side but be aware I have not been succesful hooking a factory tach to an HEI system as of yet so your tach may be gone.
There may be some other little things I missed.

Holley offers an inline electric fuel pump that supplies 4psi. Look up Holley Mighty Mite pumps on summit. They are perfect for a mild 350 and an Edelbrock 600cmf carb. Max fuel psi for the Eddy is 6psi but the manual says to set the regulator (if you have one) to 5.5 psi. You could probably use a throttle cable from a late C or K series truck. Mounting bracket you'll have to figure out though.

You would need the 8 bolt intake manifold like mentioned. Edelbrock Performer 2116 is what you are looking for. They can be had on Craigslist for around $100.

Converting to carb is not very hard, but the drawbacks compared to a properly running EFI system are numerous. Was 94 a TV cable 700R4 or a 4L60e? Not sure how converting to carb with the 4L60e works honestly.

i don't know the answer to that question
as mine has the nv4500 5 speed trans

if i could get the tbi to run properly i would leave it alone

i assume i will lose my cruise/tach/and maybe the gauges

i can install gauges an tach aftermarket
my speedo is already bouncing all over the place

and it is running so rich my eyes are watering

Speedo bouncing is either a cable if they still use them on your year or a sensor in the trans.
Cruise is controlled with a cable just like the throttle so you might be able to rig something up to work.
Personally I'd rather spend the money somewhere good like an oem dealer and get the fuel injection fixed. TBI is a very simple system as far as fuel injection goes.

If it's running very rich the TBI system is in limp home mode and not receiving data from critical systems. A properly working O2 sensor is a must and the coolant tempature sensor is critical also. These parts are more cost effective than going carb and do keep in mind we spent a fair amount of time changing jets and metering rods and reading spark plugs as no out of the box carb will be spot on.
Your speedometer should be electronic and it sounds like you have a bad sensor or loose wires/plug going on.
Point is our junkyard jem Dodge ran like yours and we just replaced the O2/coolant temp/map sensor/throttle tps/ fuel pressure regulator and cap/rotor/wires and plugs. $262.41 on Amazon for all that and it runs perfect.
$263.00 is not going to go far converting to carb.
