Question - Saddle Gas Tank In a 70 C10?
Hey guys!
I have been wanting to for a while relocate the gas tank from the cab to under the bed, however, putting it where the spare tire goes isn't an option, I want to use my truck like a truck, and that means the spare needs to be stored in the proper place. I have found an 86 C10 gas tank, it is a saddle tank. from what I can tell, it appears like it would work on my frame (by using the 86 factory straps & boring mounting holes into my frame, etc...). I also plan on getting the necessary items to install a door in the side of the bed, like most modern trucks. Has anyone attempted this? Does anyone know if this is viable? All I have been able to find involves putting the tank in the rear of the bed, that's just not appealing to me. Thanks for any help! Matt |

I'm pretty sure it won't work. Have you figured on how it will fit up under the cab? '73-ups have a raised floor under the seat.

Special K is correct. The cabs are very different

The idea that I'm kicking around is to pipe it to the side of the bed ala modern style, the fitment was the answer that I was looking for, thanks guys

I used the old" travel tanks",which were aftermarket tanks for our old trucks, you can still find them on this forum for sale or on craigslist sometimes, I mounted them underneath then took out the seat tank

Thanks!
I had found this 86 tank on craigslist, it has all the pump & sending unit etc... for $50. I wanted to see if it could work for what I needed. I've seen the Camper/ travel tanks in other trucks, but I haven't seen any that were available. Oh, well, back to the search! |
