Brake shoe anchor
My son snapped the brake drum anchor pin bolt on his truck. I have searched online and cant find a replacement. I can find one for chevelle and Camaros but none for the c10. Any idea where I can go to find one or anyone have one laying around?

Re: Brake shoe anchor
Any parts store, just tell them you need a drum brake hardware kit for your model year. I think I got my kit from Autozone for 10 bucks, has all the hardware including springs.

You would think. But no not this part. This bolts to the backing plate. Here is a picture of the broken pin.

Re: Brake shoe anchor
I have a couple of them if you can tell me how to get them out

Re: Brake shoe anchor
Aren't they part of the backing plate? The easiest and fastest would be to get a replacement backing plate from a like vehicle.
Remove the rear diff cover Remove the C-Clip Pull the axle Pull the seal/bearing Unscrew the brake line Remove the wheel cylinder Unbolt the backing plate. Install is reverse. |
Re: Brake shoe anchor
Some of them have a large nut on the back of the backing plate. If so, remove this nut & tap out the anchor pin. You should be able to find one at a salvage yard. If it is built in to the plate you will need to replace the backing plate.

You're right! Now that I look at the picture he attached again, it looks like his may be the "nut" version. Howdy neighbor! |
Re: Brake shoe anchor
Snap a pic of the pumpkin and the backing plate, load up the tools and go to the nearest picnpull in DFW. Go to the truck section and pull what you want.

I got two of them for you, they are threaded into it. A good torch with some heat and a heavy impact took it out.
