Rockers and cab corners from a donor truck?

I've got a donor truck with good rockers and cab corners. Is it worth the effort (or even possible) to cut it up to use those or should I just buy aftermarket pieces?

It wouldn't be to me...they way my luck goes I would destroy those parts trying to save them..I would just buy the aftermarket even though the quality may not be as good as oem..all you can do is try to cut them loose and see what happens..is the donor cab worth saving or is it just a parts donor.if it doesn't work out you can always buy aftermarket...all you have invested is time..

Would it be easier to repair what's wrong on the good cab n rocker corner can and use it? If not I wouldn't bother either.

The donor cab was in a head on collision with damage up around the windshield so I don't think it's worth saving. I might try cutting some pieces out and see where that gets me.

I've done it before to get some small rocker pieces and cab corners. Worked great.

New parts are super cheap. I wouldn't waste my time cutting up a donor cab for the pieces.

New parts are thinner and the fit can be crappy tho,If you got the time and use a spot weld cutter id take them out if it was me.

Is this true? If so where can you get original thickness replacement parts?

Why not switch cabs? Was the cab damaged? If the rockers/corners are more solid, I would guess the rest is too.

I just completed welding in inner/outer cab corners, and inner/outer rockers on my 82. You have to shop around. Some after-market pieces are thin / crappy while others are as thick or thicker than OEM. Find a distributor for "Key Parts". Not sure about their fenders/doors, but the rockers / cab corners were great.

I used classic parts and the parts are 19ga. just like original. Fit was perfect.
