67 Suburban 04 Suburban Engine
 

I'm in the process of having the motor from the 2004 Suburban pulled and then it's going to be installed in my 67 GMC Suburban C10. Just wondering if we will be able to reuse the stock exhaust manifolds or if I need to find a set of TBSS, Envoy or Rainer exhaust manifolds?

The 04 Suburban has a 5.3 with 4L60E in it. It's all going in my 67 Sub.

Will probably mostly depend on the engine mounts you decide to go with.

I have the CPP sheetmetal mounts/perches with the dirty dingo adapters and there seems to be plenty of room to run manifolds or headers. With the older tubular mounts fitment was a major problem.

Thanks for the reply John. I was looking at the Dirty Dingo adapters and I was wondering which mounts to go with. I guess I will look more at the CPP sheet metal mounts/ perches.

I have a 71 c10 with dirty dingo mounts on the stock 71 mounts i had to use tbss manifolds the stock manifolds wouldnt clear my enginr was a 04 silerado 4.8

I have a 82 square with 5.3 used some ebay adapters (1 inch setback ) and used 2010 camaro long tube headers

Here's mine (during some initial test fitting). The factory manifolds fit easily.

There are no manifolds on it in those pics? From my experience, the truck manifolds kick out too much at the rear and will hit the frame. Maybe if you shove the engine all the way back to the firewall they won't, but I wanted the engine in the factory location.

I did test fit with the factory manifolds (just didn't take pictures since I am going to run headers). With these sheetmetal perches and the dirty dingo adapters there was a ton of room on both sides. The only thing I have to do is relocate the a/c compressor up top.

The 2010 Camaro manifolds fit great. I actually used the down pipes and dual cats on my suburban. I also used the sliders from dirty dingo and set my engine almost all the way foreward to allow the stock ls fan and original 1968 shroud to be used

Just for thought, if there is some interference, you can always notch the frame. It's just an idea.

I was looking for these CPP engine mounts. I do not see them on their website, do you happen to have a part number for them? I really like the looks of those, it appears there is a LOT more room around these mounts than the factory mounts.

I think i may have reacted to your post a little to quickly. I have an 86, these SHOULD fit, right? I have always been under the impression that the cross members and the motor mounts are pretty interchangeable between the 67-72 and the 73-87/91 well more specifically 63-87/91, like if you wanted to put disk brakes on your old drum truck just roll all the parts from under a square under your drum and be done, direct bolt up... so i assume, well i am asking, if these fit the squares as well as they fit the 67-72? make sense? or do ya know?

I may just go ahead and order them just to find out for myself if no one knows for sure. i emailed CPP last night, but after your comment above, i dont expect to hear from them about specifics. :)

not building a squarebody, I'm not sure of fitment beyond the 67-72's. I'm sure somebody around here knows though.

The stock manifold needs slight mod to fit. Using a torch and crescent wrench to make frame mod. here's a video of a swap.

First question would be are you going to run A/C? if so then read this thread its a later year but same concept

By moving the stock frame mounting bracket back an inch or so the A/C compressor will fit, otherwise you need to by the adapters to mount the compressor on top of the engine. The 67 should have pre drilled holes to move the mount back, but it's more like 2+ inches, so I might need to just drill some holes. I have not dropped the motor in yet to see just how it fits. Between the weather and other things needing attention.

I couldn't see any way of fitting the A/C compressor in the low passenger side location on mine so I got the relocation kit to put it up top. Got the Kwik Performance bracket with the Vintage Air kit through MCB.

I think the whole thing is not going to be real pretty but I am building the LS for function over form.

Does anyone have a part number of the actually motor mount that they used with the CPP perches and Dirty Dingo sliders? We were trying to use an older Corvette style mount and it would not fit at all.

I don't have a part number but you can search by year 1967-72 small block mounts worked fine with my DD sliders. You need to make sure you have small block engine stands not big block or 6 cylinder.

The CPP sliders look like a diffirent mount than 67-72 trucks the trucks use one 7/16 bolt in the center. The CPP mounts look to use the long bolt thru the mount and frame stand

. Sorry I can give you a solid answer on what mount to use.
