Could actually tow a yugo just hanging on the hook, not touching the ground...

Great way to create driveshaft issues. Is that the rear driveshaft leaning on the tire?

Tough to see but the driveshaft isn't actually touching the ground, its hanging off the front axle. Those are Rockwell type axles with the pinion on top so the driveshaft angles aren't as bad as you might think. If you're referring to the different tire sizes the fenders being cut gives the indication larger tires are supposed to be there.

Please ignore all of this seriousness and return to feeling sorry for all the redneck butchery this poor wrecker has endured.

I promise you that the Craigslist ad says, "Too many projects so I have to let this one go. Just needs you to finish bolting up the driveshafts and swap a set of tires on to the front. NO LOWBALLERS."

It's cooler than most monster trucks I've seen. Could be the proprietary get unstuck vehicle for a mud bog park. I'm not into monster trucks, but I always wanted to build a badass off road recovery vehicle. Not stupid big like that one, but something that could go where the Jeeps go and get back out, with a dead Jeep in tow...if not repairable on site

Kind of doubt it's the get unstuck vehicle for a mud park. I don't know much about tow trucks but I kind of doubt that boom and line is heavy enough, most mud parks seem to use a big front loader or bulldozer. With a sbc, my vote is it's someone's mud park cruiser built out of what was cheap, available and cool.

I agree an off-road recovery vehicle would be cool. Was actually watching YouTube and came across BSF Recovery team (?pretty close I think) who ran a cool squarebody 4x4 dual rear wheel wrecker that was surprisingly capable and often did exactly what you mention. Go into the woods wheeling, come out towing a jeep or other wheeler. I'd be happy with a normal 2wd street 67-72 wrecker though. Keep eyeing a 65 near me, wondering if the old man will ever let er go.

I don't know what it was built to do, just a suggestion that sounded better than it being useless. I know those parks use machinery, but could use this for most all vehicles. The tow boom and tower are plenty stout for most anything and the 1/2" boom cables are bigger than a winch cable. It could have a huge winch. You only need something bigger to recover a truck dead in the water. Most are just stuck and can help with getting themselves out. I had a '71 C/30 wrecker I sold a couple years ago. I want a C/60 for hauling light trucks
