WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

WTB-

Planning to swap a NV4500 into my 85 K20. Looking for a pedal assembly for a clutch application.

Thanks-Mike

I've got a complete setup from an 86. Are you wanting vacuum or hydroboost for the pedal assy?

Hydro

If you are still looking, I also have one. From an 80s truck, hydraulic clutch. I would have to check on the brakes.

Was planning to do an sm465 swap in my K5 but lost interest. Its available if you don't go with 1968vet's

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

Sorry, I don't have a hydroboost at the moment. I just sold 2 vacuum this week. I thought I had one of each.

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

Are you saying there is a difference between a hydro-boost versus a vacuum? Are they the same for 73-87, other than that?

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

hey 79 vette,

Thanks. I'm still researching and looking for one. I'm not getting why the brake brackets would be different. I find several vacuum to hydro conversions online and they don't contain anything as far as the mounting bracket goes?

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

The brake pedal is different for hydro boost trucks. Also the main bracket that holds both pedals is different. Hydroboost trucks only have 2 studs that go through the firewall. Vacuum boost trucks have 4. Either bracket can be modified to fit what braking system you have with minor effort but the ideal situation is to have the correct one for your truck

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

Mine definitely has 4 studs that go through the firewall, and I was planning to put it in a vacuum brake truck. I had no idea the pedal boxes were different.

Based on the 4 studs, I gather that makes it for vacuum brakes?

Also, it came from a hydraulic-clutch truck. IDK if there are differences between mechanical and hydraulic clutch pedals. Maybe someone else can help on that?

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

I believe -1774btcrew- just answered your question. There is a difference in the clutch pedal assemblies from hydro and vacuum (brake pedal pin location) and explained it about as good as it gets. If you search the topic you will see he knows his stuff! Heard nightmares about people trying to swap pedals from either or and not using the correct ones.

Good luck!

Sorry I haven't replied to your PM. I have been out of town. I currently only have to vacuum boost hydraulic pedal assemblies in stock. Where in AZ are you located?

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

hey 1774btcrew,

Can the pedal assembly from a mechanical clutch be used (or easily modified) for use with the hydro-clutch setup? I found a hydroboost one like I need but now I'm wondering about the clutch part.

Thanks, Mike

Re: WTB-Pedal assembly for 85 Manual

It can be modified but not easily. I feel a big important part of the hydraulic clutch pedal assembly is the rods that come off the clutch pedal that support the clutch master cylinder. I guess if you were a really good fabricator, you could make them but I think time wise it wouldn't make sense for what you can buy a pedal assembly for. Mine are some of the most if not most expensive on eBay. This is due to the fact that I completely remanufacture them to better than new standards. Welding on the pin for the clutch master cylinder is almost always necessary unless you get one from a super low mileage vehicle. The pin gets worn and doesn't push the rod on the clutch master cylinder as far thus making it harder to engage the clutch. Most sellers don't repair this area. If you can weld and are patient this can be repaired relatively easily.
