6.0 into a 72 K10 Do I have to move tranny forward?
3 Attachment(s)
Need a little help here guys. In the process of swapping a 6.0 LQ4 into my 72 K10 and I cannot get engine back far enough to mate the TH350. I am using LSX innovation swap plates at the farthest hole forward. The head touches the firewall before I get the tranny bolts in. I have removed part of the mount pads off the frame to get it closer but can't get it all the way in. Any help appreciated.

Good time to put in a 4L60e. That will push the engine forward a couple inches.

Tranny shifts good and is recently rebuilt....
Looks like the stock crissmember won't work either.. |

Nope, you need one for this specific conversion. $300-$400

I think you can use off road designs crossmember to solve the clearance issues. Otherwise you looking at dirty dingos 4x4 crossmember

Re: 6.0 into a 72 K10 Do I have to move tranny forward?
I used ebay adapters on mine..had no clearance issues...they kept the rear of the LS engine in the same postion as the smallblock..didn't have to move anything...until I put that nv4500 behind it..then I had to move my trans crossmember back 1 1/2"

Re: 6.0 into a 72 K10 Do I have to move tranny forward?
Picked up the Dirty Dingo crossmember kit today after talking on the phone with them. Still had to mod the firewall a bit as valve covers are almost touching stock firewall with TH 350 in stock location. Don't want to change tranny or driveshafts as truck drives smooth...Pic to follow.
