Long-Slot, Stamped Steel Rockers

I have a question for you engine guys. I have recently installed a built 327 in my 1978 C10. I have had an issue with valve train noise from the getgo. The engine is running an Edelbrock 7102 cam (.488/.510 lifts) and Proform, long-slot stamped steel rockers with stock-length pushrods. I finally determined that I had some rockers hitting the manifold-side of both valve covers. Installed fabricated covers which eliminated the rocker interference but still have what I think is more than normal noise which increases as the engine heats up.

My question is are long-slot rockers inherently noisy? I have no previous experience with them.

Any observations will be appreciated.

Usually not.
Maybe you don't have enough clearance between the rockers and the spring retainers.
Or the wrong length pushrods.
You should ask a moderator to move your thread to the engine section.

My guess was going to be pushrod length also.

I hate to be the one to tell you but Proform isn't known for quality parts. Even their valve covers are kinda cheesy. Even if you get the clearance and push rod length sorted out I would still be nervous every day I drove it. It wouldn't cost a lot to get better ones. Let us know if you solve that noise. Best of luck.

Should have checked your pushrod length before installing the new rockers. Probably where the noise is. Too short and they rattle, too long and your hitting.

Thanks for all the responses. Found that some of the noise is coming from the fuel pump and will replace. Will also get into the PR length issue. Thanks again.
