A/C center dash vent supply hose

I have a '72. Can anyone describe or post a photo of how the center dash A/C vent is plumbed with the supply hose? How is the supply hose routed and do I need any plastic connector/adapter to connect to the vent? Thanks!

The best I can do is post this parts diagram from the LMC catalog. Maybe it will help.

Boog: Great! Thanks for your illustration. I was not sure if the factory set up fed directly to the center vent or there was a "T" adapter (#9 in illustration) then bled cold air to the center vent. I can order the parts now.

I'm just curious as to why there are 2 hoses, coming from and going to the same vent. when I first saw inside my dash and noticed it, I thought about blocking the left side of it off, to have more room behind the radio.

That appears to be kit #16 in the catalog pic

I was of the impression, and it could be mistaken, that by 1972 the switched and were only feeding the center vent from one side, with a plug on the other.

My 72 has the "twin feed" to the center vent. My understanding is that if you plug one side then the air flow goes to mostly one side, either driver or passenger. It was a bit of a PITA to get both sides hooked up, but I do like the more even air flow.

Re: A/C center dash vent supply hose

I could see if only 1 hose was hooked up the air would kind of only blow out left or right based on the angle of the hose going in. Would have made more sense to use the diverter in the vent like the 80's trucks have. I'll have to try plugging 1 side off the box at the T off and see what it does.

I just replumbed my a\c during my restoration with NOS tubing. It was tight but not impossible. Two tubes to center was stock in 1972.

I plugged the hole on the driver side of the vent once. I wanted space as it's cramped under the dash with the stock radio. Yes, definitely, the air blows straight across to the driver and no air diverted to passenger. Now I have a retrosound to replace the stock radio... now I have enough room under my dash to park a bus, so I hooked up both ends of the vent. The stock radio is huge. I think they do make an aftermarket center vent that disperses properly with only one hose.

UHHHHMMMM You guys did plug the top T correct #14 that way you still have air left or right and center

I plugged one side of the center vent years ago. It improves the volume coming through the center vent. The cab is so small that it cools the truck regardless if you do it or not. I did it for more room installing the radio and less clutter.

I don't get it! On my center vent if you feed only one side, the opposite side gets the air stream. What's it matter which end of the 'T' gets plugged?

Re: A/C center dash vent supply hose

The top T= #14 only supplies the center vent 1 hose on each side of vent plug 1 side and all the air goes to the 1 hose for the center vent. The bottom t or cross puts air to the pass. and drivers side vents, the top of the cross goes to the center vent. Plug one side of T # 14 and it puts more air to the vent.

After some searching, I went with the new style single inlet fixture to connect to the center dash air vent. It flows far more volume of cold air. The fitting is available at the most of the major vendors but I purchased it from Brothers:
