Correct alternator bracket

What is the correct style alternator bracket for a 1970 c10 without power steering or a.c. My local parts stores don't list an own style just chrome ones of all different styles. My truck was missing it when I purchased it so I don't have anything to go by.

V8 or L6?
If V8, BBC or SBC? Long water pump or short water pump?

Here's the 350 V8 SBC w/short water pump in my '71 GMC Jimmy. I have one of those chrome thingies, but it works. The OEM was the same but black.

Thanks for the resonse... My intake manifold doesn't have a threaded hole for the bracket though. It almost appears that it should only bolt to the head for the upper bracket and possibly the block for the lower bracket.

You can see the 3 holes in the driver side head

I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat. Looks like you need one like MikeC 's.

I like the one that Mike c posted but it's a little pricey at 85 dollars. How does the bottom mount on yours? Does the bracket bolt into the block below the heads or is it all one piece?

A lot of GM 60's model car will have these brackets if they have a V-8 in them.:chevy:

I've been buying parts for my Corvette to put a big block in it with power steering. The $225 that bracket costs is expensive. Truck parts is cheap! Relatively speaking at least.

I'm confused. The bracket you posted bolts to the front of the cylinder head and your 64 heads aren't drilled, or are they, My 74 heads are drilled, but if yours are not then you'll need a different bracket. If you're putting in a BB the bracket probably won't be the same anyhow. ???????

Re: Correct alternator bracket

The picture I posted was just the most clear I could find on the web of what he wanted. As I said above, swapping a 427 into my small block 64 and having to piece together the accessory drive. That along with building another 427 for my 69 short step and learning all of the parts needed for a truck conversion I am the guru of big block short pump pulleys and brackets now... And I have paid handsomely for that knowledge.

I'm just commenting about price referencing the 'vette bracket. There is nothing the same about the Corvette Big Block power steering / alternator bracket shared with anything else. Because of how compact the space, the PS is driven from the crank, then the second pulley groove on the PS drives the alternator. The alternator is not directly connected to the crank pulley on a big block Corvette.

Unlike other big block PS setups that drive from the 3rd groove (Camaro, Chevelle, Truck) the 'vette BB drives from the 2nd groove pulley. The 65-68 Chevelle uses the same PS/alternator setup as the 68-72 trucks. Mostly.
