Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
3 Attachment(s)
I put brand new porterbuilt upper and lower control arms on my 85 last weekend. I’m having a problem with the inside lip of my rims hitting the control arms when I turn sharp. There are no steer stops so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do about this. Any suggestions?
I have contacted PB but haven’t heard back from them. Sorry the control arms are filthy but it’s been raining here. |
Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
What rims do you have, I'm sure it has mostly to do with back spacing,

I figured that. 17” eagle alloy. I can’t remember the off set though. I bought them 9 years ago.

Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
My cragars were going to hit the knuckle on the drop spindles I got from mcgaughy. I ordered a .25" spacer to fix the problem. There's a picture that's relatively recent on my build thread of it.

Small wheel spacer, ftw. At least to get you by.

Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
Yea I believe I’ll try the spacers. I’ll make some kind of spacer this weekend to see what size I’ll need to go with.

Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
We used washers and put the wheels on with 2 bolts until it cleared, measured the stack of washers and went to look for a spacer about that size.

Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms
I finally got in touch with Porterbuilt and found out I have the wrong lower control arms for my set up. They are sending me the correct ones so that should take care of my problem, I hope.
