Late 1949 - 1953 Chevy Rear Cab Mount Measurements
So it looks like I lost my rear cab mounts in the shuffle of our move (no idea how it happened). I wanted to build a set of rear solid mounts anyways.
Would anyone be able to take some measurements off of theirs for me? Looking to know: - How high they sit above the top of the frame rail - Distance from the outer end of the frame rail to center line of the closet hole Thanks. |

I can do this easy tomorrow but what exactly do you have? Do you have any of the mounts? The part that is mounted to the side of the frame and then the other part on the cab look like the end of a leaf spring. The piece in the center looks like a shackle. What are you missing?

Re: Late 1949 - 1953 Chevy Rear Cab Mount Measurements
Thanks MARTINSR. I only have the front cab mounts - I am missing the complete assembly for the rear cab mounts (shackles and mounts to frame and cab).
I am planning on cutting a set of new ones to make them solid mounting points for the frame. The measurements I am looking for is: - Width of the mount that bolts to the cab - Length of mount that bolts to the cab - Height of mount (that bolts to the cab) to top of frame rail. - Distance of center line of farthest hole to outside edge of the frame. Thanks again for this MARTINSR. Hopefully it makes sense. |

I can take photos and do it so you can copy what is there, but it sounds like you plan on making them a little different. So if that is the case just knowing the distance from the frame to the bottom of the cab is all you need. I will make the measurements you ask for but honestly, I don't see how you can use them if you are changing how they work anyway. Brian |

Please elaborate on the last one, "Distance of center line of farthest hole to outside edge of the frame."

I'm sorry, I forgot to do this for you. I will get it tomorrow night.

But what was is it you need on the "Distance of center line of farthest hole to outside edge of the frame."?

First, the length of the mount that bolts to the cab, the one on the frame is the same by the way, the only difference between the two mounts are the placement of the bolts that attach it. The overall length is 3 5/8". The length from the edge to the center of the bushing hole is 2 7/8" The distance from the cab to the top of the frame is 5/8" The distance from the frame to the center of the bushing on the cab bracket is 3 7/8" From the top of the frame to the center of the frame mount bushing is 2 1/8". The shackle length, center to center is 3 3/4"
Hope this helps, I will get the others tomorrow that I missed. Brian |

You are still going to have to have some sort of rubber cushion between the bracket and the cab.
