Gas Tank

Tightened the fuel line and sending unit up when it gets hot out and sun hits the cab it leaks on the fuel tank. When I take the gas cap off it lets off a lot of pressure how do I fix this problem. Would a new gas cap work?

Re: Gas Tank

Seems like maybe the vent on your cap is not working. A new vented cap is the easiest thing to try. Hope it works.

Does anyone sell a vented gas cap looked on brothers and LMC didn't see any description saying if the gas cap was vented or not.

I just bought this cap from napa
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7031220

Its meant for trucks without evaporative emision controls. Its vented, but only through a relief valve. I think that will be the case for most gas caps. So the tank will still build up some pressure, but the cap will relief at a preset pressure.

Re: Gas Tank

71-72 cap is vented, 70 and earlier is not, its vented from the passenger upper corner of the tank, up the b-pillar and down and out of the floor of the truck. Its quite intriguing.
